Tony’s Rooftop @ TimeOut Market – Chicago

TimeOut Chicago Market, a recent addition to Fulton Market’s food hall scene, opened with a bang in 2019. Topped by London-inspired watering hole Tony’s Rooftop Bar, the multi-level, atrium-style building features over 15 different restaurant stalls headed by some of Chicago’s best-known chefs.

The bar was made four-seasons friendly with the addition of five, thermally-controlled multi-slide door systems from LaCantina, allowing the fenestration opposite the counter to open fully up to the rooftop terrace.

As a contributing building to the Fulton Market Historic District, the project was initially designed to repurpose the late 19th-century building once occupying the site. Unfortunately, severe structural problems discovered during demolition prompted the rebuilding of the entire structure. The existing brick was salvaged and incorporated into precast exterior wall panels on the new design, which closely mimics the original.
