Reclaimed Materials

Bricks Incorporated began decades ago with a simple business plan that involved demolishing distraught properties in the Chicago market and salvaging the components. Brick, steel, terra cotta, copper and other resources have proven desirable materials that have the ability to be salvaged and diverted from landfills and other waste streams. In accordance with sustainable practices and the USGBC’s LEED accreditation program, Bricks Incorporated has found that recycling materials, specifically Chicago Common Brick, reclaimed pavers, and reclaimed granite are not only a cost effective solution to the designer’s desires but also a method of revitalizing our city and neighboring towns.

We offer reclaimed Chicago common brick, old Chicago street pavers, reclaimed Barr pavers, salvaged Purington pavers, reclaimed granite pavers, salvaged terra cotta, salvaged Milwaukee Cream commons, reclaimed Silver Fox common brick, reclaimed medium pink Chicago commons, salvaged full range common brick, the popular Clay Buff Chicago common, Sand Buff common brick, and more!

What’s the process?
  • A building is scheduled for demolition and all proper permits are obtained by the contractors
  • Demolition contractor demolishes the building an separates brick, steel, and other materials that have value
  • Stacking crews sort the materials by color and remove debris while stacking wooden pallets with the brick
  • Bricks Inc. boom trucks visit the demo site and pick up the “skids” of brick which are wrapped in cardboard and metal banding
  • Our staff load the materials onto box trucks, rail cars, and customer’s vehicles bound for their new home.
  • Thin Brick cut from authentic Chicago Common brick is also a popular option. Designers, contractors and homeowners have found that thin brick can be applied to the interiors and exteriors of projects without the need for structural support such as the typical lintel or brick ledge.
